Film Editing Project

https://youtu.be/l0OWJRMtfC8 The video above is me and my friend Ava's film editing project. In doing this project, Ava and I had to plan out and execute six edits/transitions. When we began the project, we looked at the list of transitions and chose the six that seemed like the most fun to record. These included a freeze frame, cutting on action, flashback, shot/reverse shot, match cut, and fade out. We then went out to record each one and the ideas just came to us as we went. In doing this, we learned the "behind the scenes" of crafting each type of editing technique. After each clip was recorded, we had to edit them. We had to make sure we were piecing them together in a sensible way. This portion of the project helped us further develop our editing skills. I'd say the hardest aspect of the video was editing the match cut, as the shots had to go together smoothly. Throughout the project, Ava and I shared the same roles, as they weren't assigned. "You are Struggling to Keep up in Dance Class" Photography Project

  Me and my classmate Ava were given the task of choosing a prompt , and then planning, shooting, and editing a photograph to portray this prompt. The prompt we chose was “ y ou are struggling to keep up in dance class.” To respond to this prompt, we planned to take a photo of me doing a dance move poorly , with my dance classmates behind me doing it perfectly . We developed this sketc h :   Then, we put this planning into effect and took our photo:   Edited/Final version:       There was a lot of preparation that went into taking these photos in terms of design and composition:     DESIGN:   -Lighting:   When taking the photo, we made sure there was enough light to be able to see everybody’s facial expressions and other important details .            I do feel that it is a filmmaker's responsibility to  represent  groups of people correctly.  That is u nless they are making a clear statement and  representing  groups unfairly on purpose  to show that it is wrong . This is because movies and shows are often perceived as  an alternate  reality. If viewers see certain groups of people  having improper  represent ation,  whether that is based on their gender, race, or an other  demographic , it will be taken as discrimination or oppression of sorts,  and  rightfully so.    In the recent past, I would say filmmakers have done a n increasingly  better job at  representing   different groups  fairly.
