Pre-production Plan

For our project, my group and I will be using the materials we already have. My groupmate Maris has a nice camera we will be using to record the scene, a Kodak-PIXPRO AZ425-BK:

Furthermore, because the scene follows a teen, we will not need any unusual props or costumes to develop a realistic viewing experience We will wear clothes we already own. We have not fully decided what sense of style the main character will have. However, I am sure we will be able to execute whichever vibe we decide on with what we already have. We also plan to feature a few specific props, such as headphones, handwritten letters, and breakfast food. We have easy access to these items and will be able to utilize them throughout production easily. We do not have any lighting equipment, so we will have to focus solely on natural light to illuminate our scenes. This will be a challenge, but I believe we will be able to overcome it. The props and materials we plan on using throughout the scene should not cause us any trouble. This is likely the least challenging part of this pre-production process.

Regarding where we are shooting, most of the opening sequence will be shot at one of my groupmates' houses. This is a simple, yet effective plan, because we have full access to filming here. We will also be able to manipulate our surroundings for the most part. We also want to close out the scene with the main character leaving for school, in which she will exit her house and get into her best friend’s car. There will be a few shots inside of the car. Recording in the car may be a challenge, as there are spatial restrictions. We also want it to seem as though the best friend is driving, so we will have to put a lot of thought into how we craft this scene safely but realistic. Finally, we want to incorporate flashback scenes into the beginning of our project. Most of these shots will not take place in the house. We will need to film in public places, such as parks, beaches, etc. However, we shouldn’t face any challenges being allowed to record in these places. The only difficulty will be not being able to control the setting, or individuals around us. We will have to make sure we are not in a crowded area. We must be mindful, making sure not to record strangers who have not permitted us to film them.

In our opening sequence, we will need someone to assume the position of director, cinematographer, editor, actors, etc. The directing process will be relatively collaborativeHowever, Maris, Ava, and I will be starring in the scene. Ava will be the protagonist, and Maris and I will be supporting actors. Emma, our fourth member, will be the cinematographer. We will also need to cast a few extra actors to play our parents, or other family members. We can likely get one of our parents to take on this role. Finally, we will edit it collaboratively. This worked for our music video project, and I believe it will work for this project as well!
